How to connect the CORE sensor to Zwift for live in-game thermal data.
We are excited to show you in this guide how you connect the CORE sensor to Zwift. This enables you to see your CORE thermal data live in the head-up display (HUD) on the top left of the screen or in the centre panel during a structured workout.
Setup
- Ensure you have paired the heart rate monitor (HRM) you wish to use with Zwift via the CORE app
-
On the pairing screen in Zwift you connect to CORE as a heart rate monitor.
Click on the heart rate monitor tile and select your CORE sensor. Please note your CORE sensor transmits the heart rate signal to Zwift so you can see the data in game as well as any exports post workout. This functionality saves a bluetooth connection, which on some devices are limited. -
Update the settings of the HUD in your profile settings.
Click on your profile name on the top right, select profile settings and navigate on top to the HUD. There you can freely select the different metrics to be displayed in your HUD during standard or workout rides. Currently you can select between:- Core body temperature (degrees)
- Heat Strain Index (HSI)
-
Start a ride and have fun.
Select a route to ride on and start riding. You can observe the data live during your ride and adjust your training effort according to the session goals.
NOTE on core temp unit: When your "regional setting" on your computer is set to a country using imperial units, then the core temp is displayed in °F, independent of the Zwift settings, and vice-versa. Please ensure that your regional settings on your device are set as intended.
Connectivity Note: It may seem that the signal (HR or CORE data) may drop out from time to time or depending on a rider position. This might be related to the Bluetooth connection from the sensor to your device where Zwift is running on. Please ensure that the device is in close proximity to you and ideally straight in front of you or placed on the side of the sensor to prevent your body or other objects interfering with the signal.
Data export
All CORE related data is stored in the FIT file created by Zwift. If you connect a TrainingPeaks or intervals.icu account, the data will be available for analysis in these platforms. It is currently not yet possible to link your CORE and Zwift accounts. As such, to see data in the CORE app, please open and sync your sensor post-workout.
